Notes about Lockdown

Hi Everyone!

Just some heads up before you use your brand new Lockdown

Now before anything else, be sure to back up all your files to another PC or storage device as Lockdown WILL format your hard drives upon password encryption.

Please take note that you need to initialize your hard drive first to be able to put a password encryption on the device.

Kindly refer to the user manual or follow this step by step guide on how to initialize and encrypt your device

  1. Insert your 2.5'' HDD or SDD on the data enclosure.
  2. A dialogue box will show a message "The new HDD is connected. Will you use Password?"
  • Press <0> to continue using your HDD as an extenal 3.0 Hard Drive (Proceed to step 6)
  • Press <1> to encrypt your HDD with a password (Proceed to step 3)
  • A dialogue box will show a message "Enter a password for the first time". Input you 4-8 numerical password and press enter
  • Re-enter your password and and press enter to continue
  • Once password encryption is completed, a 16 digit Master Key will show on the LCD. The master key is used to recover your data in case you forget your password. Keep this data safe and contact us for more information on how you can recover your files
  • After HDD installation, you need now to initialize your HDD to begin using your Hard Drive. Go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management then go to Disk Management.
  • Right-click on the unknown drive and select "Initialize Disk" to begin partitioning and formatting process.
  • Select MBR (Master Boot Record) and click OK.
  • After Initialization is complete, right-click on the driver details and select "New Simple Volume"
  • New Simple Volume Wizard will come up. Click next, rename Volume Label to Capella and click finish.
  • Congratulations you have successfully encrypted your device.
